About Me.
Dr. Andrea Neal-Smith is a transformational strategist, educator, and faith-driven leader with more than two decades of experience advancing innovation, equity, and student success across higher education and nonprofit sectors.
As founder and principal of A+ Grant Writing and Consulting, Dr. Neal-Smith partners with colleges, universities, and nonprofits to strengthen systems of care, strategy, and accountability. She founded A+ Grant Writing & Consulting, LLC to help institutions and organizations build systems that outlast personalities and moments—structures rooted in excellence, intentionality, and humanity.
Her consulting practice blends scholarship with spirit—offering research-informed and faith-grounded approaches to leadership, organizational development, and student engagement. Currently serving in senior academic leadership within higher education, Dr. Neal-Smith brings an insider’s understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing mission-driven institutions today.
She is known as a positive disruptor—a leader who asks the deeper “why,” builds bridges across silos, and empowers teams to move from intention to implementation.
Her approach is both strategic and soulful, combining data-driven insight with a deep belief that leadership is, at its core, a sacred act of service.

A lifelong learner and woman of faith, Dr. Neal-Smith holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration and a Master’s in Sociology, and is completing her Doctor of Ministry, where her research explores womanist-informed leadership and the spiritual dimensions of resilience in Black higher education.
